MBR’s value lies in the prestige of its members, the leading corporate executives from Massachusetts’ most prominent companies.
MBR provides the unique opportunity for its members to apply their managerial expertise, experience and insight to developing and influencing the state’s public policy agenda.
MBR has a focused agenda, concentrating on a small number of issues, which is developed based solely on the interests, ideas and passions of its members.

Additionally, MBR meetings and events allow members to develop personal relationships with their business peers and collaborate on work that is important to the commonwealth.

The Roundtable's effect on state policy issues is a credit to:
the personal involvement of the members and their most senior deputies;
the depth of research and discussion behind the Roundtable's opinions and solutions; and
the ability of the Roundtable's membership to work closely with public leaders at the highest levels of state government.

What type of leader may become a member of the Roundtable?
Membership is by invitation to study and address key public policy issues. A CEO's participation in the Roundtable means that he or she is concerned with quality of life issues in Massachusetts and is willing to work directly with peer business leaders to study and address key public policy issues such as health care, economic development and education.

The Massachusetts Business Roundtable draws its membership from the leading executives of institutions in Massachusetts—either for-profit or non-profit—that contribute significantly to the economy or to the public policy-making process in the Commonwealth. An institution's impact on the Massachusetts economy may be measured by a number of criteria:

Employment
* Number of people both directly and indirectly employed

Revenue
* Direct revenues generated by operations, research, and/or grants from outside sources
* Indirect revenues generated through use of outside vendors, suppliers and support services

Public Policy Activity
* A history of strong involvement in the shaping of Massachusetts' economic public policy

The Roundtable agenda reflects its broad constituency
MBR members represent diverse segments of the state economy—ranging from financial services, retail and manufacturing to engineering, utilities and entertainment. Consequently, the Roundtable's agenda is focused on long-term, comprehensive issues across industry lines that have a broad impact on the state economy.
