sapce Municipal Health Insurance Reform Act
The Massachusetts Business Roundtable (MBR) believes that the Commonwealth's long term economic vitality is based on a simple premise: invest in our competitive advantages, and refocus on our competitive disadvantages. MBR commends the Governor, the Legislature and its leadership, and a wide array of stakeholders for the passage of the Municipal Health Insurance Reform Act into law as a significant investment in the state's competitiveness. Improving the fiscal health of the Commonwealth and its cities and towns allows for additional investments in the state's competitiveness and positions it well for future growth and innovation.

The financial crisis facing the Commonwealth's cities and towns threatens core elements of one of the state's competitive advantages, our quality-of-life, including education, public safety, and other municipal services. The $100 million in avoided health insurance costs saved by municipalities through the Municipal Health Insurance Reform Act will immediately be invested in teachers, firefighters, police officers, parks and other education and municipal services that make Massachusetts a great place to live, work, and do business.

MBR is pleased to support the Act.
