education and workforce training task force

CHAIR
Gary DiCamillo President & CEO, GW Premier America, Inc.

overview
MBR’s Education Task Force is committed to high standards for academic achievement and accountability for schools, teachers, parents and students. Its agenda is focused on three items: 1) ensuring the regions’ global competitiveness in innovation and technology, including efforts to enhance Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) teaching and learning; 2) supporting legislative efforts to improve teacher quality and accountability; and 3) advocating for investments in public higher education and early childhood education

Members of the Task Force offer their managerial perspective on state education policy by:

  • Promoting math and science education as essential components to accelerate innovation and bolster the region’s global competitiveness;
  • Engaging in legislative advocacy around issues of teacher and educator quality, early childhood education, and public higher education; and
  • Pursuing “shared agenda” priorities in partnership with other business associations.  supporting accountability in the K-12 system, including math and science teacher incentives, the MCAS test, and reforms to turnaround underperforming schools; advocating for legislation to increase state investment in public higher education; and implementing workforce retention and recruitment strategies.
